The much anticipated release of the HCAHPS patient experience data occurred March 28th, 2008. Data from 2,521 hospitals is now available on the Hospital Compare website (http://www.hospitalcompare.hhs.gov). The Hospital Compare site allows a user to compare up to three hospitals at a time across 10 HCAHPS measures (six composites and four individual items). Users can view hospitals in their city, state, zip code, county or search by hospital name for a specific facility.
NRC Picker Client Experience also provided publicly reporting clients with HCAHPS Experience summaries to assist them as they gauged their position both nationally and statewide. Information not available on Hospital Compare, but provided to clients by NRC Picker included their percentile rank for each measure, as well as the 90th percentile score, state best scores and the names of all facilities achieving that score.
